If 2020 and 2021 weddings have taught us anything, it’s that smaller weddings can be just as lovely as a larger wedding. For those uncertain whether or not they should have a smaller guest list for their upcoming nuptials, consider these benefits.
More budgetary room
This is one of the more major reasons one would consider a smaller wedding. Let’s say your budget is $10,000. If your guest list is 150 people, that budget won’t go very far. If your guest list is 50 people, however, you have much more room to play around. You’re suddenly able to select smaller, non-traditional venues that can be cheaper. As a result, you need less tables, linens, decor, etc. This gives you room to spend more money on food and alcohol, if you desire, or to just save it.
Less preparation work
With less guests, you have less invitations to send out, space to decorate, and wedding favors to prepare. If you want, this time allows you to to put more into the aforementioned details– or you can perhaps spend your energy on other things. You can make your decor and favors more personalized to your guests, making for a more intimate affair.
More intimacy
As mentioned above, a smaller wedding makes for a more intimate wedding. Being surrounded by the people you truly, earnestly want there will make for a warmer ceremony and reception full of laughs and love. At larger weddings, it can be difficult to get more than a word of thanks in to each of your guests. At smaller weddings, you will get the opportunity to actually speak and dance with your guests, making a more meaningful connection for all in attendance as well as yourself.
Less Pressure
With larger weddings, it feels like so much can go wrong. There will be more people vying for your attention, telling you what they need, complaining about certain aspects. This can lead to the couple feeling frenzied and unable to actually enjoy the day. With a smaller wedding, you won’t have to deal with this so severely. Sure, something might go wrong, but the event will be far more relaxed and will allow you to make quality memories.
