While the world figures out how to navigate the new normal brought on by the global pandemic, engaged couples are slowly returning to their wedding planning. But with social distancing orders and some companies still closed, it can be difficult for couples to figure out how to move along with their upcoming nuptials. Planning doesn’t have to come to a complete stop. There are plenty of things you can do to plan for your special day.

Find Online Inspiration

Depending how early on you are in the wedding planning stages, now is actually the perfect time to start finding your inspiration. Nailing down exactly what style and mood you wish to emulate for your ceremony and reception can take some time, so use this extra time at-home to figure out what best fits you and your partner. There are a wide variety of style quizzes, books, magazines, and other online resources for you to put together. Start a Pinterest board to keep yourself organized, and start planning!

Find Alternative Ways to Shop for Your Gown/Tuxes

These days, there are a number of places you can shop for your wedding apparel– from David’s Bridal, to online designers, even down to Amazon, you can find a dress to a tuxedo just about anywhere. If you are willing to buy a dress without trying it on first, this sort of option is great for you. If not, that is perfectly fine. Do research on the bridal shops in your area to figure out what fits your timeline best and find out what guidelines they have put in action to keep everyone safe. At the very least, you can keep these stores in mind when you are finally ready to book an appointment and shop.

Shop Décor Online

Similarly to buying you apparel online, there are plenty of wedding décor options to choose from online. Whether you need cardstock, centerpieces, or anything in between, you can find something that fits you on wedding sites such as The Knot, or from artisans on sites such as Etsy.

Develop Your Registry

This is a daunting task many couple don’t actually want to enact, but now is a great time to do so. Figure out what products and other experiences you and your partner could use/enjoy, and drum up a list. Figure out if you would prefer to use a resource like Crate & Barrel that provides in-depth registry options, or set it up through a more traditional retailer like Target or Bed Bath & Beyond.

Include a Virtual Element to Limit Guests

Most places still suggest keeping gatherings to a minimum. If you are itching to get married, this unfortunately means that your wedding party will be smaller than you might like it to be. In order to involve those who may not be able to attend due to the pandemic, consider setting up a Zoom link or a livestream that can be watched from anywhere.

Be Adaptable

If the pandemic has shown us anything, it’s that we never quite know what to expect. While being flexible for your wedding is the last thing you may wish to do, it is necessary at this point. Try not to worry about it too much, and remember your wedding is about love, not about the size of a gathering or the lavishness of it.
